HC Deb 21 June 1934 vol 291 c539
60. Mr. T. SMITH (for Mr. THORNE)

asked the Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs whether he has any information to give the House about the Ottawa. Supreme Court's decision relative to the status of the tariff board; and what effect the decision of the Supreme Court will have on the Ottawa Agreement in connection with tariffs and quotas?

Mr. J. H. THOMAS

I am not at present in a position to add anything to the replies which I gave yesterday arising out of a question by the hon. Member for Birkenhead East (Mr. White) on this subject.

Mr. SMITH

Can the right hon. Gentleman say when he will be in a position to reply?

Mr. THOMAS

I indicated yesterday, in answer to a question, that as soon as I had full reports I should be ready to give the information.

Mr. DAVID GRENFELL

Will the right hon. Gentleman inform the House whether the result of the Ontario elections will affect the Ottawa Agreements?

Sir PERCY HURD

Is it not a fact that the Ontario elections are the provincial elections, and that tariff questions are entirely Federal matters?
