HC Deb 14 June 1934 vol 290 cc1891-2
51. Mr. DAVID EVANS

asked the Minister of Agriculture if he is aware of the widespread fear among occupying owners who are in arrears in respect of mortgage charges that, because of improved prospects for agricultural prices and therefore for farm land values, mortgagees will exercise their rights of fore closure; and whether he will take such measures as will give relief to mortgagors pending a recovery of capacity to meet their obligations?

Mr. ELLIOT

I am not aware that there is the widespread fear among owning occupiers to which my hon. Friend calls attention. If he has any information on the subject I shall, of course, be glad to give it careful consideration, but I would remind him that I have no powers to intervene in this matter.
