HC Deb 06 June 1934 vol 290 c916
15. Captain P. MACDONALD

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether, in view of the report of the British Trade Commissioner in Nyasaland that Japanese imports into that protectorate are rapidly increasing, any steps are contemplated to limit such importations?

Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER

The position is complicated by the Congo Basin Treaties which extend to Nyasaland, and I can only say at present that the whole question of the position of the territories affected by these treaties is still being examined.
