HC Deb 06 June 1934 vol 290 c932
45. Mr. TEMPLE MORRIS

asked the Home Secretary whether he has notified the local authorities concerned of the need for increased precaution to prevent heath and forest fires; and, if not, whether he will consider the desirability of doing so?

Sir J. GILMOUR

This matter has been discussed at a conference of the Government Departments concerned and representative chief constables, and as a result I propose at an early date to circulate to the local authorities, who have powers of control over commons, a memorandum containing advice as to measures of fire prevention and methods of combating fires on heaths and commons.
