HC Deb 30 July 1934 vol 292 c2270
48. Captain SHAW

asked the Prime Minister whether in view of the general restoration of cuts, the salary of the Secretary of State for Scotland can be put on the level of other Secretaryships of state, particularly in view of the fact that salaries of officials in the Scottish Office are adversely affected by the existing basis of the Secretary's salary?

The LORD PRESIDENT of the COUNCIL (Mr. Baldwin)

A review of the salary of the Secretary of State for Scotland must, I fear, be deferred until it is possible to take into consideration the general question of Ministerial salaries. I do not share the view expressed in the last part of the question.
