HC Deb 30 July 1934 vol 292 c2273
59. Mr. SUTCLIFFE

asked the Postmaster-General how far the process of modernising the post offices and making them attractive to the public has been extended to Lancashire; and whether he can state the progress made in this direction during the last two years?

Sir K. WOOD

The process of modernising the post offices has been proceeding in Lancashire as elsewhere throughout the country. The majority of the offices have already been brought up-to-date and, as regards the remainder, the work is now in hand or will be put in hand as soon as circumstances permit

Mr. SUTCLIFFE

Can my right hon. Friend say how many have so far been dealt with?

Sir K. WOOD

I shall be glad to send my hon. Friend particulars.

Mr. RHYS DAVIES

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether Lancashire has received proportionately the same attention in this connection as other counties?

Sir K. WOOD

I hope so.
