HC Deb 18 July 1934 vol 292 c1084
6. Mr. JOHN (for Mr. EDWARDS)

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he will furnish a return showing the number of ex-naval officers in receipt of pensions other than War pensions; the average amount of pension per head; and the number of such pensioners who are in paid employment while in receipt of their pensions?

Sir B. EYRES MONSELL

I would refer the hon. Member to pages 272 to 277 of the current Navy Estimates, upon which will be found information as to the numbers of retired Naval and Marine Officers in receipt of retired pay from Navy Votes, and the provision made for their retired pay for 1934. The average rate of retired pay per head is about £308 a year. I regret that no information is available which would enable the last part of the question to be answered.
