HC Deb 18 July 1934 vol 292 c1085
9. Rear - Admiral Sir MURRAY SUETER(for Captain HAROLD BALFOUR)

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air the approximate time taken by the Air Ministry from the selection of a site for a new aerodrome to the date when a station is sufficiently completed for occupation by personnel and aircraft under the normal rate of peacetime expansion?

Sir P. SASSOON

It is difficult to give a general figure, there being necessarily considerable variation in the periods taken to complete new stations. I am advised, however, that the period would normally be not less than four years.
