asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the total value of gold imported into this country from foreign countries during the past year to the most convenient date and the comparative figures for the two previous years; and whether the deposit of such gold here is having any prejudicial effect upon the Exchange Equalisation Fund?

Friend will find full particulars of the imports and exports of gold coin and bullion during the:first six months of the years 1932, 1933 and 1934 respectively,,in the trade accounts of the United Kingdom for June, 1934. For reasons with which the House is familiar, I am unable to answer questions relating to the Exchange Equalisation Account.
