HC Deb 10 July 1934 vol 292 c168
25. Mr. SMEDLEY CROOKE

asked the hon. Member for Bosworth (Sir W. Edge), as representing the Charity Commissioners, what amount the Charity Commission had in its possession at the end of 1933, under the War Charities Act of 1916, from societies which had then ceased to function; and for what specific purposes they were collected?

Mr. BLINDELL (Lard of the Treasury)

I have been asked to reply. The Charity Commissioners have no funds of Charities registered under the War Charities Act, 1916, which have ceased to function for the purpose for which they are registered. Funds collected for a War Charity are held by the committee administering the charity. Audited accounts should as required by the Act be sent to the appropriate Registration Authority.
