Mr. STANLEYI would refer the hon. Member to the reply which I gave on 5th July on this subject to the hon. Member for East Birkenhead (Mr. White) and the hon. Member for Plaistow (Mr. Thorne).
§ Mr. BATEYWere we not given to understand from that reply that the regulations would not be ready until after the House rises for the Recess? Will they not be ready and will not this new expensive gilt-edged board be ready before the House rises to take over the able-bodied unemployed who are on relief?
Mr. STANLEYAs I informed the House last week, in view of the immense amount of preliminary work that has to be done, I am afraid there is no possibility of that, but I can assure the hon. Gentleman that I realise the urgency of 20 this matter and that there will be n[...] avoidable delay.
