Mr. STANLEYI understand that a meeting of the Joint Bridges Committee of the West and East Riding County Councils was recently held to consider what action can best be taken with regard to the suggested new bridge at Selby, but I am not in a position to consider any question of grant until definite proposals are submitted by the highway authorities concerned.
§ Mr. PALINGIs the Minister aware that this sort of thing must have been going on for at least 25 years, and that they have not done anything yet? Will the Minister use his good offices to bring these people together and try to effect a compromise between the conflicting interests?
