HC Deb 06 February 1934 vol 285 cc969-70
67. Mr. DREWE

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether the Consumers' Council, set up under the Agricultural Marketing Act, has considered the retail price of milk; and, if so, whether they have made any recommendations?

The MINISTER of AGRICULTURE (Mr. Elliot)

The Consumers' Committee for England has the retail price of milk under consideration, and I understand that they hope to submit their report shortly.

Mr. DREWE

Is my right hon. Friend aware of the considerable difference in price in rural areas, where the cost of distribution is not high, and will he bear that particular aspect in mind?

Mr. ELLIOT

That is one of the aspects which the Consumers' Committee is especially considering.
