§ 28 and 29. Mr. NUNNasked the President of the Board of Trade (1) whether he has any information to show to what extent, and in what direction, British export trade to Manchuria has been affected by the secession of Manchuria from China;
(2) whether any steps are being taken to compile separate statistics of the trade between this country and Manchuria; and, if not, whether he will give instructions to this effect?
§ Mr. RUNCIMANFor the purpose of the trade returns of the United Kingdom, the Kwantung Peninsula was included with Japan until 1932, and the remainder of Manchuria was included with China until 1933. As from 1933, our trade with the Kwantung Peninsula, and as from 1934 our trade with Manchuria (other than the Kwantung Peninsula) has been recorded separately. Statistics of our trade with Manchuria will therefore only be available as from the beginning of this year, and it is not possible to furnish the information asked for by my hon. Friend.
