HC Deb 06 February 1934 vol 285 c954
7. Mr. G. HARVEY

asked the Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs what is the amount of interest on Irish Land Stock payable by the Bank of England to holders resident in the Irish Free State; and whether any of these holders are persons under obligation to make annuity payments in respect of land purchased by them?

Mr. J. H. THOMAS

I have made inquiries, but I find that the information asked for in my hon. Friend's question is not in the possession either of the Bank of England or of the Government.

Mr. HARVEY

Is it not possible to obtain that information?

Mr. THOMAS

I have already indicated that I have made inquiries both of the Bank of England and the Government. My hon. Friend will appreciate that, if a large block of this stock is held either by trustee or by the banks, as nominees, it is practically impossible to get the information.
