HC Deb 06 February 1934 vol 285 c944
11. Mr. MANDER

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware of the dissatisfaction existing with regard to the composition of the recently appointed art and industry council; and what action he proposes to take in the matter?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

I have received complaints that certain interests have not been given representation on the Council for Art and Industry. It is not, of course, possible for every branch of art or of industry to be separately represented on the Council, and I do not propose at present to consider any alteration of its composition.

Mr. MANDER

Is there a possibility of these various interests being represented on sub-commit tees of the Council?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

It is open to the Council itself to co-opt for committee purposes anybody whom they think may be of use.
