HC Deb 04 December 1934 vol 295 cc1402-3
25. Mr. GARDNER

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether, in view of the official investigations undertaken by his Department, he can now state the decision which has been reached in the settlement of the differences in practice at the several dockyards in the manner of giving credit for acting service in a higher grade to certain hired industrial employés when subsequently confirmed in the higher situation?

The CIVIL LORD of the ADMIRALTY (Captain Euan Wallace)

I regret that it is not yet possible to give a decision upon this very complex question which has been raised several times within the last nine months by the hon. Member for Gillingham (Sir R. Gower). It has been necessary to make exhaustive investigations which are not yet completed. Every effort will be made to expedite a decision, which I will communicate to both hon. Members.
