§ 52. Mr. THORNEasked the Minister of Transport whether he receives from time to time reports from the traffic commissioners for the different areas in connection with breaches of the road traffic regulations; and whether he can give any information to the House in connection with the report of the commissioner for the East Midland traffic area in regard to the alteration of the time records by employers after they have been correctly entered by their employés?
§ Mr. BLINDELLMy hon. Friend does not normally receive from the licensing authorities reports of these cases and the only information he has in connection with the second part of the question is that gained from Press reports of certain remarks which the licensing authority for the East Midland traffic area is stated to have made. The Road and Rail Traffic Act, 1933, provides that any person who, with intent to deceive, alters records of this kind renders himself liable to severe penalties.
