HC Deb 03 December 1934 vol 295 cc1231-2
48. Captain P. MACDONALD

asked the Minister of Transport whether he is yet in a position to state whether he proposes to publish the proposed changes in the highway code; and whether such changes will be submitted to Parliament for approval before being put into force?

Mr. BLINDELL

My hon. Friend does not propose to publish the revised code before it is submitted to Parliament.

Captain MACDONALD

Do I take it that it will come before Parliament for discussion before it is in operation?

Mr. BLINDELL

I think my hon. and gallant Friend must take the answer as I gave it.

Sir W. BRASS

Is my hon. Friend aware that there is no difficulty for any practical driver to consult the code of the road quickly and easily?

Captain MACDONALD

As I have had no reply to either of my questions, I intend to put it down again when the responsible Minister is here to answer it.

Sir G. FOX

Will the hon. Member also consider inserting regulations standardising the position of side and tail lights on all vehicles?

Mr. BLINDELL

Those observations shall be passed forward to the Minister.
