§ 16. Mr. LAMBERT
asked the Minister of Agriculture what stock has been destroyed, with the approximate value, during the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in Devon; and, on the assumption that no further outbreaks occur, when the restriction on the removal of cattle will be removed?
§ Mr. ELLIOT
178 animals, including 84 cattle, 67 sheep and 27 pigs, have been slaughtered by the Ministry's direction 1219 in connection with the outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease on four farms in Devon. The approximate value of the stock destroyed is £1,235. If no further outbreaks occur, it is intended to reduce the limits of the infected area from a radius of 15 miles round Chudleigh to one of 5 miles on the 11th December, and to remove the infected area restrictions entirely on the 31st December.
