HC Deb 19 April 1934 vol 288 c1121
35. Mr. PERKINS

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that the retained imports of buttons and studs for the first two months of 1934, as compared with a similar period of 1933, have increased from 1,766,646 gross to 2,936,976 gross; and whether he will take steps to reduce the imports of these articles?

Dr. BURGIN

I am aware of the facts to which my hon. Friend draws attention. The question of any increase in the duty payable on these goods is a matter for the Import Duties Advisory Committee in the first instance.
