HC Deb 18 April 1934 vol 288 cc949-50
17. Captain CUNNINGHAM-REID

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what action he proposes to take on the report of the commissioner appointed by him to inquire into the financial situation of Seychelles?

Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER

I have not yet received from the new Governor of Seychelles, who assumed office only six weeks ago, a full statement of his views on the recommendations of the commissioner. I hope very shortly to receive from him a full report on the situation, together with his proposals for action. Meanwhile he has already initiated a policy of retrenchment in the Colony.
