On the 7th instant there were 3,066 boys in the intermediate and senior approved schools, receiving respectively boys aged 13 and under 15, and 15 and under 17 at the date of committal by the courts. The estimated average cost per head for 1934–5 is approximately 27s. a week. The vacancies in these two classes of school on the 7th instant were 138 and 264, respectively.
