Colonel GOODMANasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether he is aware that the imports of hats and caps in January and February of this year are 95 per cent. higher than in January and February of last year; whether any representations by the industries concerned have been made to the Import Duties Advisory Committee; and, if so, whether any recommendation has as yet been received from the committee?
§ Mr. HORE-BELISHAI am aware of the increase in imports of hats and hoods and shapes for making hats to which my hon. and gallant Friend refers. As regards the last part of the question, I would refer my hon. and gallant Friend to the answer which was given on the 22nd May last to the hon. Member for South Derby (Mr. Emrys-Evans) of which I am sending him a copy.
