asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the number of dozen packs of playing cards on which Customs duty and Excise duty, respectively, have been paid during the first 10 months of the present year?
The number of dozen packs of imported playing cards upon which Customs duty was paid during tile 10 months ended 31st October, 1933, was 7,600. Precise figures of the number of dozen packs upon which Excise duty was paid in the same period are not at present available but the estimated quantity is 675,000 dozen packs.
