HC Deb 28 November 1933 vol 283 cc675-6
32. Brigadier-General NATION

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether a decision has been arrived at with regard to the new uniform for the Army which has recently been on trial?

Mr. COOPER

No, Sir. The trials are still in progress.

Brigadier - General NATION

These trials have been in progress for two years. Can the hon. Gentleman not say how they have proceeded and what prospect there is now of this uniform being adopted?

Mr. COOPER

I do not think they have been in progress as long as two years. The special question which is now being considered is how they do in very wet weather. We did not have very much opportunity of judging of that.

Brigadier-General NATION

Can my hon. Friend say in what respect the new uniform is considered to be superior to the old one?

Mr. COOPER

It is not possible to say until the report has been considered.
