HC Deb 27 November 1933 vol 283 c515
45. Mr. T. SMITH

asked the Prime Minister whether he will give assurances that, within the limits of naval agreements binding on both countries, British naval building in respect of types and numbers of ships will be solely directed to our own needs, regardless of the types and numbers of ships deemed necessary by the United States?

The PRIME MINISTER (Mr. Ramsay MacDonald)

The hon. Member will find the answer to his question in the reply which I gave on Thursday last to a question by the hon. Member for Wolverhampton, East (Mr. Mander).

Mr. H. WILLIAMS

Does not the right hon. Gentleman think that questions of this kind are likely to have a very harmful effect upon national relationships?
