HC Deb 27 November 1933 vol 283 cc512-3
36. Mr. H. WILLIAMS

asked the Postmaster-General how many wave-lengths have been allotted to the United Kingdom under the new international arrangement affecting broadcasting; and how much of the day is effectively occupied on the average on each different wavelength?

Sir K. WOOD

Eleven wave-lengths are allotted to Great Britain and Northern Ireland in the Lucerne Plan. The average daily period of transmission on each of the British wave-lengths is about 12 hours.

Mr. WILLIAMS

The right hon. Gentleman has not quite understood me. The question is to what extent the transmission of different programmes is affected.

Sir K. WOOD

My hon. Friend did not ask that. If he will write to me, I will try to give him the information.
