asked the Secretary of State for India what area of the Rohtak district of Orissa has been affected by floods; the number of villages destroyed and people rendered homeless; and what steps are being taken to help such victims?

14. Mr. RHYS DAVIES

asked the Secretary of State for India whether he can give any estimate as to the amount of damage caused by the recent rains in Delhi, Rohtak, and the adjoining districts; and what steps are being taken to prevent a recurrence of the flooding?

I have no information beyond what has appeared in the Press, but I will make inquiries from the Government of India if the hon. Member so desires.
