The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTER of HEALTH (Mr. Shakespeare)

The number of persons, men, women and children, in receipt of poor relief in England and Wales, excluding rate-aided patients in mental hospitals, persons in receipt of domiciliary medical relief only, and casuals, on Saturday, 21st October, 1933, was 1,290,345. The corresponding figure for Saturday, 22nd October, 1932, was 1,236,983.
