HC Deb 23 May 1933 vol 278 c900
3. Brigadier-General NATION

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether a decision has yet been arrived at as to the desirability of a Territorial officer being given the command of the forthcoming Territorial review that is to be held in London?

Mr. COOPER

It is not proposed to make any exceptional arrangement for the command of the troops. They form part of the Command of the General Officer Commanding, London District.

Brigadier-General NATION

In view of the fact that the hon. Gentleman, when I last asked this question, said he would consider this matter, does he not think that it would be a great help to the Territorial Force that a command of this kind should be given to them on one occasion?

Mr. COOPER

If they are part of this very large command, it is obvious that at the review, the Genera! Officer Commanding must be in charge, and there is no proposal that his position should be filled by any other than a regular soldier.
