HC Deb 22 May 1933 vol 278 c757
40. Captain CAZALET

asked the Home Secretary whether he can make a statement with regard to the proposals of the Prison Commission relative to an alteration of statutory rules governing prison administration; and when the paper embodying those revisions will be laid before the House?

Sir J. GILMOUR

Proposals for a revision of the rules are now under consideration, and I hope to be able to lay before Parliament a draft of the revised rules at an early date. I may say that the main objects are to consolidate the several sets of existing rules and to make certain modifications of the rules of 1899 to bring them into conformity with modern prison conditions.

Captain CAZALET

Will there be an opportunity of discussing that matter in this House?

Sir J. GILMOUR

I should require notice of that question.
