HC Deb 22 May 1933 vol 278 c753
29. Mr. BARCLAY-HARVEY

asked the Postmaster-General if he is aware that, owing to the discontinuance of the morning passenger train service from Aberdeen to Alford and the consequent carriage of the mails by goods train, inconvenience is caused to people living in the area affected owing to the irregular nature of the service so provided; and what steps he proposes to take to restore a better postal service to that region?

The POSTMASTER-GENERAL (Sir Kingsley Wood)

I understand that, on one or two occasions following the introduction of the revised service on 1st May, the goods train to which my hon. Friend refers was late, and in consequence connections with outgoing mails were missed. I am considering the possibility of improving the service by introducing motor vehicles.
