HC Deb 17 May 1933 vol 278 c353
34. Mr. LAWSON

asked the Minister of Labour how many applications for grants have been made in aid of schemes carried out by local authorities during the past 12 months; and whether he can state the number agreed to by the Government, the amount involved, and the number of men to whom those schemes would give employment?

Captain AUSTIN HUDSON (Lord of the Treasury)

I have been asked to reply. If, as is assumed, the hon. Member is referring to schemes for the relief of unemployment, my right hon. Friend would point out that Exchequer grants in aid of such schemes have not been available during the past 12 months.

Mr. LAWSON

My question did not imply that I was asking for schemes of relief. My question was simply with regard to any schemes which are being carried out by local authorities.

Captain HUDSON

My right hon. Friend was not clear what information the hon. Member requires. If he will put down another question, my right hon. Friend will get the information.
