HC Deb 17 May 1933 vol 278 cc352-3
32. Mr. MANDER

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the present position with regard to the Austrian loan, and whether it is still intended to proceed with it?

Mr. HORE-BELISHA

As stated in the report of the League of Nations Financial Committee dated the 10th May, it has not yet been possible to float the guaranteed loan provided for in the Protocol of 15th July, 1932. I understand, however, that it is hoped that these technical difficulties will shortly be overcome. Subject to this, it is intended to proceed with the issue of the sterling portion of the loan simultaneously with the issue of the franc portion of the loan in Paris.
