§ 4. Mr. D. GRENFELLasked the Secretary of State for India whether he is aware of the financial distress of many families whose breadwinners are in prison without trial; and whether the question of allowances to the families of détenus is being considered by the Government of India?
§ Mr. BUTLERAllowances are paid to the families of détenus, if dependent upon them, and are assessed individually on the basis of the family's needs and its other sources of income. I have no reason to suppose that any special action by the Government of India is required.
