26. Sir NICHOLAS GRATTANDOYLEasked the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been drawn to the case of the Abchurch Lane Finance Company, Limited, heard at the Mansion House Justice Room, on 12th April, 1933, in which it was proved that a prospectus was issued inviting the public to subscribe £350,000 for a property which had cost £41,600, and that there was over £200,000 worth of worthless underwriting; and will he say what steps he is taking to prevent a repetition of similar frauds on the public while the Companies Act of 1929 remains unamended, in view of the reduction of stamp duties on companies' capital facilitating the flotation of limited liability concerns?
§ Dr. BURGINThe case is still before the courts, and while that is so I can make no statement in connection with it.
