HC Deb 28 March 1933 vol 276 c842
26. Mr. BUCHANAN (for Mr. McGOVERN)

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he has made any representations to the German Government regarding the safety of British Jews in Germany; and, if so, what has been the nature of the reply?

The SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Sir John Simon)

Although I am unaware of any actual case of arrest or ill-treatment of a Jewish British subject, His Majesty's Ambassador at Berlin, on my instructions, spoke to the German Minister for Foreign Affairs on this question about three weeks ago, and I also took an opportunity of mentioning the matter myself last week to the German Ambassador in London. In both cases the replies were of a reassuring nature.
