HC Deb 27 March 1933 vol 276 cc674-5
37. Miss CAZALET

asked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that the two stamp machines outside the Post Office at Notting Hill Gate are frequently out of order; and whether he can state how many pennies and halfpennies these machines have accepted from the public without discharging stamps in return?

Sir K. WOOD

Complaints have been received concerning these machines and I have arranged for them to be overhauled and if necessary replaced by new machines. During the past three months, the value of stamps supplied by the machines has slightly exceeded the amount of money inserted and users of the machines have accordingly gained at the expense of the Post Office.
