HC Deb 23 March 1933 vol 276 c499
26. Mr. DORAN

asked the Home Secretary if he is aware that serious traffic congestion is occurring outside the Palladium Theatre, Argyll Street; and, if he will direct the police to keep this street clear of traffic?

Sir J. GILMOUR

This comparatively narrow thoroughfare tends to become congested owing to the large number of vehicles calling at adjacent premises for purposes of loading or unloading goods or taking up or setting down passengers. The police are fully alive to the need for keeping a clear passage, and they take action when vehicles are left unattended for unreasonably long periods.

Mr. DORAN

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the management of the Palladium is arranging for crowds of people to stand in front of the Palladium, thus blocking the passage so that you cannot possibly get through?
