HC Deb 20 March 1933 vol 276 c40
54. Mr. LEVY

asked the Postmaster-General what progress has been made towards providing a telephone service from this country to the Continental capitals; and when the service is likely to come into operation?

Sir K. WOOD

Telephone service has been available for some years past from all parts of this country to the majority of Continental capitals. With the more recent extensions, telephone service is now available to all Continental countries except Albania, and to all the capitals of the countries served except Athens.

Mr. LEVY

Is there any possibility of this valuable service being extended eventually to all the large towns in Europe?

Sir K. WOOD

I have said that it is available in the majority of the Continental capitals, and, I think, in a large number of other towns as well.
