HC Deb 14 June 1933 vol 279 c156
11. Mr. LUNN

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will state the increase or decrease in staff in the last two years in the following branches of the Colonial Service, administrative, medical, agricultural, public works, in Kenya, Nigeria and Malaya, respectively?

Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER

Following are the figures for the European Staff:

Mr. STEWART

How does the right hon. Gentleman reconcile that position with the Swedish Trade Agreement, which provides that we shall import and encourage the importation of building materials?

Mr. ORMSBY-GORE

I do not think there is any inconsistency. The Office of Works has a limited number of buildings to erect, and they have always been built of British material. I propose to continue that policy.
