§ 24. Mr. D. GRENFELLasked the Secretary of State for India whether he can state the present stage of the negotiations between the Government of India and the Ceylon Government on the subject of a reduction of Indian duties on Ceylon cocoanuts; and whether the Government of India propose to ask the legislative assembly to ratify any agreement arrived at as a result of the negotiations?
§ Mr. BUTLERI have no recent information. I have no doubt that the Government of India would ask their legislature to ratify any agreement arrived at.
§ Mr. GRENFELLIs there not unnecessary delay, and does not that cause dissatisfaction among the traders of Ceylon?
§ Mr. BUTLERI am satisfied that this matter will be attended to with all reasonable despatch.
