HC Deb 13 June 1933 vol 279 cc17-8
35. Mr. MANDER

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs the present position with regard to the Disarmament Conference?

36. Mr. MORGAN JONES

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he has any statement to make on the present position at the Disarmament Conference?

Mr. EDEN

The present position at the Disarmament Conference is that the first reading of the United Kingdom Draft Convention has been completed at Geneva. Various points of difficulty have been encountered and these are being discussed between the principal delegates of the countries concerned under the guidance of the President of the Conference. The Bureau of the Conference will meet again on the 27th June to draw up a text of the Convention in preparation for the second reading. The General Commission will meet again on the 3rd July.

Mr. MANDER

Do I understand that negotiations are taking place in London during the next few weeks between the interested parties?

Mr. EDEN

There are conversations going on under the guidance of the president.
