HC Deb 13 June 1933 vol 279 cc14-5
27. Mr. PARKINSON (for Mr. RHYS DAVIES)

asked the Secretary of State for India whether any agreement has been arrived at between the Government of India and Imperial Airways and the National Air Transport of India with regard to civil aviation; and, if so, what provision has been made for the training of Indians in the service?

Mr. BUTLER

Negotiations are still in progress between the Government of India, Imperial Airways, Limited, and Indian National Airways, Limited, with a view to the conclusion of an agreement to give effect to provisional arrangements already made for the inauguration of an air service between Karachi and Singapore to be operated jointly by the Indian Company and Imperial Airways, Limited. Adequate provision will be made for the training of Indians and this indeed is an essential feature of the scheme.
