HC Deb 25 July 1933 vol 280 c2414
62. Mr. PARKINSON

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he has now received a report from the Governor of Gambia regarding the deportation of Jimmay Girkan, who claims to be a British subject

The SECRETARY of STATE for the COLONIES (Sir Philip Cunliffe-Lister)

The man in question was convicted of being a prohibited immigrant and deported accordingly. His claim to be a native of the Gambia was not upheld by the Supreme Court of the Colony, to which the case was carried on appeal.

Mr. MANDER

Will my right hon. Friend give an undertaking that during the Recess deportation orders will not be applied to any Jimmies well known in this House?
