HC Deb 20 July 1933 vol 280 c1965
3. Mr. NORTH

asked the Minister of Labour the number of unemployed miners in Warwickshire at the latest available date?

Mr. HUDSON

At 26th June, 1933, the number of insured persons in the coal mining industry classification recorded as unemployed in Warwickshire was 1,602, of whom 1,240 were wholly unemployed and 362 were temporarily stopped.

Mr. NORTH

Does the hon. Gentleman think that the recent activities of the Coal Reorganisation Committee of Warwickshire are likely to have any effect in increasing or decreasing the number of miners employed?

Mr. HUDSON

That is a matter for the Minister of Mines. The figures that I have read out show a decrease compared with last year.
