HC Deb 06 July 1933 vol 280 c480
6. Mr. T. WILLIAMS

asked the Minister of Labour if he will secure a return from the West Riding (Yorks) public assistance committee showing the number of single applicants for transitional payments who have been refused any payment; the number who receive less than the full sum; and the number of such persons who are in lodgings?

Sir H. BETTERTON

I am not clear exactly what particulars the hon. Member wants. Perhaps he would be good enough to speak to me.

Mr. WILLIAMS

I want to ascertain from the right hon. Gentleman how many single persons are receiving the full transitional payment and how many are receiving less than the full amount, and, if possible, how many single persons have left home since the operation of the provision?

Sir H. BETTERTON

Perhaps the hon. Gentleman will speak to me about the matter. The question on the Paper goes far beyond the question which he has now put to me, as I will explain to him.
