HC Deb 06 July 1933 vol 280 cc505-6
52. Mr. HICKS

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office if any provision has been made, or is contemplated, for a contributory superannuation scheme for Royal Ordnance factories industrial employés, having regard to the recommendation of the Royal Commission on the Civil Service that a special investigation should be made in respect of applying such a scheme to all Government Departments?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the WAR OFFICE (Mr. Duff Cooper)

No such provision has been made or is at present contemplated.

Mr. HICKS

Is the hon. Gentleman aware that the industrial employés of the Royal Ordnance factories have made repeated applications to the War Office authorities to institute a contributory pensions scheme, and could not some move be made in that direction?

Mr. COOPER

I am aware of the fact, but such a policy would be bound to extend over all Government Departments, and no one Department can formulate such a policy for itself.
