HC Deb 04 July 1933 vol 280 cc143-4
1. Lieut.-Colonel ACLAND-TROYTE

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office what the extra cost of supplying home-grown meat to the Army would be at present prices?

Mr. COOPER

It is estimated that at present market prices the annual extra cost of supplying home-killed meat, which is not necessarily the same as home-grown meat, to the Army and Air Force at home would be in the neighbourhood of £540,000.

Lieut.-Colonel ACLAND-TROYTE

Is the hon. Member aware that the conditions of two or three years ago are very different from what they are now 7 Has he considered the prices at the present time, or is he simply repeating answers given years ago ?

Mr. COOPER

Yes. We have con. sidered the prices at the present time.
